Blessings by Anglican clergy

by neilsthilda @ 2006-09-09 - 15:04:46

I can't help but comment on the double standards of many Anglican clergy. They seem happy to bless warships and nuclear submarines which are weapons of mass destruction costing the taxpayer a fortune. Yet, they are not happy blessing gay relationships or letting people who are divorced get married in church.

A funny old world!

It is a funny old world indeed...

...the clergy who won't bless gays and won't marry divorced people are probably not those who bless warships (and thankfully there are lots more gays couples and remarried divorcees than there are warships built)

I wonder which side of all this Jesus would have taken, that old people-loving, counter-establishment rebel?

It's all got to be about people - image of God.

All part of my and (wife's) theological breakfast musings this morning. That is what comes when two theology graduates are joined in unholy marriage. It all came about when we were told that in the eyes of the Church we are not really married because I went and got divorced 10 years ago. Utter tosh! She has got to get a bit of paper from the Archbishop of York before she can go to her selection. Humph! Then again rules are rules.Just another bee in my hat. Maybe it is just another excuse to prevent me getting down to reading about research methods!

Well done to you for keeping it just to a bee, I have a whole hive in my hat about that particular subject!
